This weekend we hosted a wedding shower for Chiara and Ryan, one of the finest couples with the most impeccable taste. The groomsmen tried to hire an elephant and bring in a Dance Dance Revolution game for a Pokemon themed shower so the party planning was pretty much left to the bridesmaids.
Guys – this shower was SO GOOD. After buying every hydrangea the flower market had to offer, I knew it was going to be a good day. The olive oil favors and the mimosas were my favorite part.
But you might be surprised to learn that funneling olive oil into small vessels is an unexpectedly scientific and oily experience. I was patting myself on the back for finding a perfect funnel that fit like a glove into the mouth of the bottle. But that was so wrong. As it turns out, olive oil is super viscous. If the funnel fits perfectly, once the olive oil makes its way in, air can’t escape the bottle so the oil just sits atop the funnel and eventually overflows all over your hands and the counter because, instead of paying attention to the task at hand, you are paying attention to your dog eating broccoli off the floor. Don’t worry, though. If you just stick a straw through the funnel, you’ll be in a good spot.
Congratulations, Chiara & Ryan!!
